yamaha visual arranger

Hey, I just ran across your question by accident so if you havn't figured out how to get styles for your visual arranger, this might be providential. For what it is, VA is absolutely incredible!

Except for me (and now you), almost no one knows that regular PSR styles work great with VA. How to get them? Go to google search, type in PSR styles, you will see a Yahoo user group (I can't remember the address). All these guys do is make and talk about PSR styles (which work in VA). Sign up as a member. Then check the Links portion. Click on the first item that comes up. It will take you to a styles archive that for you and me, is an absolute goldmine!!! There is also another archive of more recent stuff. But all told, there are thousands of styles there (and that is after Yamaha made them get rid of a pile that Yamaha didn't want them to have. There are also links of other places that have them. Now for a secret that only you and I know about. VA works the best with styles from the PSR 620. The same site I have been telling you about has freeware programs. There is a program called Stylelist that will play styles and show you their AB, etc parts. There is another free program on there called StyleSplicer that enables you to line up the parts of the styles and convert them to 620 (VA) styles. Keep in mind that 620 has A and B intros and endings and you must always save endings and intros in the B position.

When you are finished with a song, I recommend Virtual Soundcanvas to convert from midi to wave so you can use in a program like Protools or Deck

Now I have a question for you:

Have you been successful in breaking a measure of a style part (say Main B), to a smaller size like two beats instead of 4? Some songs require that and I haven't figured how to do it. Therefore, the fills end up coming in at the wrong time.
