Hi, I'm Leila! My biggest dream is to become a singer,
now I'm 15, so I would wanna become a singer at the age of 18. I can't stop dreaming of being the one. instead of writing sign or signing I write sing, so I always have this dream in my mind.

This is my third year of ballet and my second year of hip hop and I'm taking voice lessons
this year.
:Oh,and my uncle Greg is a cheif engineer at one

free CD's all the time.
Anyway, any advice you've got,I'm willing to hear

here are a few suggestions / questions
to get you going....
I'm going to be quite frank in some of the points
but only for your own benefit....

- What kind of songs do you want to sing ?
- what kind of audience do you want to target ?

This is important, because wanting to be the next Britney/Maria or wanting to be the next Aimee Mann are very different parts of the music spectrum...have very different target audiences...and would be approached very differently.

- Listen, listen, listen
The best thing you can ever do is learn from other
people. Listen to artists that you aspire to.
The more you listen the more you learn from what you hear.
Remember that every musician in the world has their heros no matter how big they are themselves.

- Can you play any instruments?
This is not essential but can always be of benefit.

- Meet likeminded people
Remember you are not alone! There are plenty of young (and not so young )musicians out there who also aspire to the same dream....
Try to meet and play music with these people.
eg. Set up a band with School/College mates...
(U2 started off as a School band in Dublin)
Check out MP3.Com message boards

- Get performing on a stage.
It's scary performing on stage for the first time but the feeling you get when your audience appreciates it is unreal.
You gain more confidence the more you do it.

- Prepare for dissapointment
For every 1 artist that succeeds, there are thousands of artists that don't....
Don't take discouragement from this but learn to
be able to take it in your stride.

- Find some good music magazines / webzines
again this relates to the type of music you want to do. It's good to be aware of what the current trends are...(to either join or avoid them)

- Remember you are young.
You are young and have plenty of time to establish
yourself...
You can use this time to your advantage by strengthening your voice (or training if you think you need it)
You could develop your own style of writing / singing.
You could study music if you wanted to.

- Keep on writing.
As you go through life you learn, as you learn, you can put these life experiences into songs.
Write about whatever you want whether it be the state of the environment or just the contents on the back of your cornflakes box. The more you write the more you develop your own style.

- Always have faith in yourself...
There is no reason in the world why you can't succeed. YES, YES, YES, think positively !

- Don't get motivated by money
I cannot stress this enough....
I know plenty of great musicians who are motivated by money...
They should have been accountants NOT musicians and will not succeed because of it.

- The Record Deal is not always the answer to everything.
A friend of mine has four albums released independantly (she is not signed to any record company)
Record companies are motivated by money 99% of the time.

- Use the technology at your fingertips...
The fact that you posted this message means you have a PC. If you have a PC you have a virtual recording studio at your fingertips...
Search this website for great software.

Likewise you can very easily put your songs up on MP3.com for the world to hear someday.

Like wise there are plenty of MP3.com artists who
are screaming out for singers.
You might find it easier to find artists to collaborate with than you might think...

After reading the above i felt really inspired, i have wanted to be a singer all my life not because i want to be famous but because i have a passion for music and it makes me happy, however it is a hard career to get into and when you have rent etc to pay it is not easy to go back to college but you mentioned alot of great points, i think i will carry on trying it is so great to hear that there are loads of other people out there that share my dream i hope it all works out for you in the future.

hey I want to become a singer but I don't know where to start? I'm in a chour and I don't know what to do from there. Can someone give me some clues?
I have been trying so bad that I'm tierd of waiting I just need some help really bad.

i like to sing. its my 3rd favorite thing to do. first, i LOVE to act, and 2nd, i would love to teach. But.....HOW DO I GET STARTED!!!!!!!so please someone help me?
