Decent multitrack recording software for low software budget
I've done a lot of stuff with audacity. I just got a MOTU 828MkII, and I've been using the included software, audio desk, which is seriously limited and is not vst compatible. Is there any good free or inexpensive software that can do decent multitrack recording, and is vst compatible (my primary computer is a mac, but I also use a PC laptop).

The best program for your PC would be <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/n-Track_studio/">n-Track Studio</a>.
It supports VSTi and VST 2.0 effects, as well as DirectX.
It's been arround for years, is in it's fourth version,

how to export multi audio file from cubase sx for use in protool
how toimport multi audio files from cubase to protools
Re: how to export multi audio file from cubase sx for use in pro
I would look around at the Digidesign User forums for info.
But in the meantime, here's my slow, but useful method for dumping tracks from other sources...
Place a 2 bar 1/4 note click track (hight hat) on the start of each track of the song in Cubase. Make sure that they are all in sync and accurate. Then select each track from start to finish and save each track as a mono AIFF or WAV file. Then import them up in PTLE and place them at the start of the first bar or what ever start location you want. Make sure they line up. That should do it.
Peace.

Roland XP-10
Help. I bought this Roland XP-10 used, and someone has changed the pitch to where middle C is now a D. I've used the manual to try to change the overall keyboard pitch, but set at "0" A440 it's still a D. I don't know if someone has somehow gone in and changed all the settings so they will play a step lower or what. Can anyone help - please. Again, I've followed the manual and it shows the keyboard playing in the concert pitch, but the keyboard says otherwise.

Voice Synthesizer/I need a professional recording
Hello guys, i am a self producing musician and i currently need a software which synthesie the voice while you recording so does it sound professional. I am using cool-edit pro 2 , but whenever i record the voice synthesizer inbuilt in cool edit pro does not make you sound professional. If anyone knows a good software outhere that will make voice recording sound professional. plz send me an email with info.
:)
Re: Voice Synthesizer/I need a professional recording
What kind of microphone are you using and what environment are you recording in? Unless you use a good quality mic and a proper sound-proofed room, you're unlikely to get any kind of quality.

Re: Voice Synthesizer/I need a professional recording
Hi
With cool edit pro, use WinGroove plug for your midi backing (silence the vocal track). In cool edit add bass if needed and a reverb as required by the type of song, WinGroove (which is free does the rest)
For your vocals, you need only a medium quality one. I use a $200 mic and it works fine. After recording I:
- Add bass
- add full reverb as required
- add flanger over wrong keys in the vocals to help spread and correct
-Often I add bass twice, but it depends on the song.
I have a set of $400 head phones and after mixing listen on a cheap sound card, then I get the right mix
Listen to some originals to get the feel for your equiptment.

Re: Voice Synthesizer/I need a professional recording
I wanted to bring to your attention that I can record your midi file or composition to sound like it has been professionally played. For example, if you have a piano midi piece or handwritten score, I would be able to record it to sound like it has really been played on a piano. Or maybe you have a string quartet…I can record your string quartet to sound like it has been played by 4 professional players. I can record any type of music including big bands, jazz, rock, rap, pop, hip-hop, R&B, vocal choirs, orchestras, concertos, woodwind quartets, etc. I can also record your music for free for a limited amount of time (the instructions on how to get free recordings are on my website). Check out my recordings at www.recordhall.com
digital audio recording studio - Transform your midi composition to sound live
My homepage is: www.recordhall.com
recording studio - A place for composers to record their compositions of any style realistically.
Be sure to listen to the midi first, then the mp3. This is what I can do with your piece as well. If you are interested, reply back and send me your Sibelius, Finale, Cubase or just plain midi file. If you don’t have a midi sequence, (your composition written in Finale, Sibelius, or any notation program) a hand written scanned score of your composition will also work well. I will then give you a quote and start recording.
You can reach me at music@recordhall.com
Sincerely,
Marcee Martinez

I am using a e825s Sennheiser microphone.
And i am recording in a small room with double glazing windows. And the software im using to record is cool edit pro 2. Its just that the voice is good but it does not come out studio like. I want it to blend with the instrumentals im singing too, i want the voice recording to sound professional.

Are MT Pro files written onAtari convertible to CubaseWin XP ?
Hi everyone,
I'm new to this site and just getting back into sequencing etc... The GVox website contains the following quote: "You will be able to open all your old Master Tracks files in the new version of Master Tracks" I say thats great but what if my old Master Tracks files were written on an ATARI ST and I now want to somehow open them up in Cubase SL 2.0 with Win XP as my operating system. Is this possible??
Thanks, David Main
HELP!
Hi All
I have a Sony NET MD Walkman that records onto mini disc, along with a Windows XP lap top, loaded with Sonic Stage. I wish to record some spoken interviews, for Radio Broadcast, which the NET MD will do. However I need to EDIT certain words of phrases.
Anyone out their can advise me what software I need?
Thanking you in anticipation
Re: HELP!
Depends on what you mean by "Edit certain words of phrases"'. Do you mean editing certain words out?
What you probably need is an audio editor. I would check out some of the ones in the download area of this site. Lots of shareware and freeware. If you want something more substantial, you will have to pay more. Check out SoundForge if you have a decent budget..
transposing audio cds & Karaoke software
I need to transpose some audio cd music. Is there a software program that will do that?
Also, I would like to create my own Kataoke songs for my school kids. Is there software that I can use for that purpose?
Thanks.
Re: transposing audio cds & Karaoke software
To answer your first question: No, as it is still a complex task due to all the instruments being mixed together.
<a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/DARTKaraokeStudio/">Karaoke Studio</a> might be what you're after.

Re: changing sheet music
: I' looking for software that can change notes from piano to saxophone notes. Any one know where I can find this. I'm not very mucial. This is for my son. Thanks Cathy
Transposing isn't all that difficult - if you can tell me which kind of saxaphone your son has I should be alble to help. e.g. is it an Alto, Baritone, Bass, Soprano, Sopranino sax?
For example, if it is an alto sax then it is an E flat intrument which requires all the notes to be moved down a minor 3rd.
I can tell you how to do this with software once I know which sax he has.
