question for the cool edit pro user

on each of the tracks in Cooledit pro you'll find a Solo/Mute/Record (S/M/R ) buttons on the left hand side..

Play around with them and you will be able to Play/Mute tracks as you need.

Problems converting Fruity Loops

I try to send Fruity Loops Files to cool edit pro but the wave is always loud and wont play.

printing problem

I upgraded my o/s to win2k and I encountered printing problem. The software for mu IJ300 printer was not compatible with win2k. So I had to download a Lexmarh Z11 software, my printer works fine with everything except with my MediaFace v1.2 software. I've a lot of stuff and I can't afford to re-do it all over again by installing another software.

Soundfonts & SB Extigy

I am in a band and use a pc equiped with an Audigy soundcard and a midi keyboard to trigger live samples using soundfonts. I have recently purchased a laptop and a sound blaster extigy and have discovered it does not support soundfonts. Does anybody know of a way of using sounfonts with a card that does not support them or an alternative means. (I need to be able to create my own sound banks). I am running Windows XP. I will be very grateful for any help anyone can offer.

I've got the same problem with my Extigy. In my opinion this soundblaster is one big mistake of Creative Corporation. That's why I'll sell it. Do you think Audigy 2NX does support soundfonts?

Normally i don't post anything but i feel i should help as your problem is quite simple.

Soundfonts have to be loaded (into hardware) which supports them. This is done by yourself in software but the AC97 chip (EMU10k series) is actually what does this. Hence you can only use soundcards from EMU or creative. Because this is data it WILL NOT work on anything external via usb firewire etc. You have to acquire an internal card with this chipset, so for laptop users you are quite screwed unless you manage to obtain E-MU 8710 pcmcia cards which are quite old. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but your extigy wont cut the mustard not by a long shot,... besides it isnt exactly 'professional audio hardware', so my advice would be to look at virtual intruments instead.

Help!!!!!!! I also discovered that the Extigy I bought for my laptop doesnt support soundfonts and I find that terrible cuz that about the only reason I got it for - on the road production! Plz reply if u know of a way out. Thanks

Clearly you are restricted to using software-generated sounds which are very resource-hungry - particularly if high-definition.

I am aware that Cubase will drive souds using Creatives ASIO drivers (it's possible that your card has ASIO drivers if it supports EAX - Environmental Audio Extensions). Personally I don't use them except for techno sounds as they aren't particularly good except for controlling wav-based effects (e.g. Reverb, Chorus, etc). You would have to use Steinberg's "Recycle" program to create sound files to import to Cubase.

Personally my advice would be to get a fast cheap PC, stick in an Audigy, and control it through your laptop. You'll be FAR better off.

fruityloops and keyboard trouble

Hello!
I´d like to know why my MIDI keyboard ísn´t working correctly with fruityloops 3.4. the sound is delayed by at least 1.5 seconds which is a long time! The thing is, it´s not a hardware problem as the system gets the input signal in time, because I can see that when I press a key on the synthesizer, the little "MIDI" indicator on the top left corner of the main window of the program lights up in time...besides, There is no delay using the creative keyboard program shipped with Creative Live! cards.
I would be very grateful if anyone could answer my question.

Burning cdg's that are computer-blocked?

I've recently bought a ton of Sound Choice CDG's and want to burn a copy of each, but they won't play in my computer. Is there some kind of software that I can buy that will enable me to burn them? E-mail me @ jhillbeach@aol if you can help. Thanks!

I'm not sure, but the "Auto-play" or "Auto-run" feature in your computer settings may be interfering. If you have a mac, then I'm not sure what the solution is. I had a similar trouble trying to extract from an mp3.com disk. It keeps showing up on my computer as a CD-ROM, but I don't care about that. I just want to get to the audio files. The MacOS won't let me. I dunno.

Some 15 years ago, I used to have such a thing for Mac.
I tried on Hitsquad, but have not found it yet.

My parents have windows 95 and their mail is eudora light. It is so annoying trying to get it to send out mail and to-night we tryed to fix it.We went into system tools and clicked on check mail or something to that effect and it said their were two errors so we clicked on the fix it box and it said it was fixed so we went out of it and when we clicked on eudora it came up saying eudora blah blah was not a win32 application. Our parents dont know this yet so we need to fix it A.S.A.P.
Any help appreciated

Maybe they should be using windows 98. Although still flawed, it's not the mule that 95 was..

Thanks for your reply Rimmer but I got someone to fix it and I also asked him to upgrade it but the setup they have is too old, I have '98 myself and am very happy with it, I bought a new computer and it had XP and I had nothing but trouble with it so I had to get it down graded but it was well worth it. Quite a few people I know have had to do the same. Just out of curiosity did many others have the same problem???

How do you burn c.d's???? I just recieved a c.d burner for Christmas and I have no idea on how to work it. I have the blank c.d's and now I just need to find some directions. I tried to look on the web on how to do it but no luck so far. I am so confused!!!! Please HELP me i am in pain that i can't burn tons of c.d's straightaway. How did you learn to burn your c.d's? I need to find somebody who can possibly e-mail me or come over to teach me to burn them. All of my friends either theirs is broken or they don't have one. One of my friends named Claire Elizabeth Petratis only can listen to the music on her computer but she can't burn them. Claire dousn't have a c.d burner but she has had lead me to believe that she does. I am so confused. listening to smf files on a pc

volumn level

Cable from my amp to the computer is about 18 feet. Volumn level of records, CD's, etc played thru the computer speakers is fine. However, volume level is way too low when recorded on the hard drive and played back or burned on a CD.

Knowing nothing about signal strength loss, I wonder if the problem is the length of the cable. If not what?
Any help will be much appreciated.

What type of cable is it? a phono/RCA or RCA to minijack cable?

Both types are unbalanced for starters and will suffer from noise issues if nothing else when run over about 5-6 feet.. 18 feet is asking for it.

As I have never run that type of cable more than about 6 feet, I wouldn't like to speculate on whether the cable voltage would drop that much but it can't be condusive to a good quality signal. Amp moving time.. ;)

YoGen Vocal Remover. It won't always work. For a detailed reason why, you'll have to pull the finger out and use the <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/search/">search engine</a> - which you'll need to do anyway to find yogen.

Mac Vs PC

The answer to that question is never going to be found. There are strong arguments that ensue from posting threads such as these and most people are tired of them. I use a Mac, others use a Windows box. Peoples experiences vary. You can do the same music on either computer with a different users experience. Go to a music shop, play with both the Mac and a Windows box and decide which makes you feel the most comfortable..

i would like to add...

There is more free software for PC
It is sometimes easier to configure a Mac
There is more hardware for PC
There are less viruses for Mac.
Many colleges have Macs.
Many businesses have PCs.
Macs can handle PC data with ease.
PCs cannot handle Mac data with ease.
Most online data is in PC format.
PCs can be overclocked
Mac hardware is sometimes hard to find
Almost all macs have SCSI support built in
All macs have built-in sound support
Used macs are usually still expensive
Used PCs are usually very cheap
The MacOS is a complete operating system
PCs are still stuck using DOS
PC users have to fiddle with the BIOS settings
Mac users don't have to worry about BIOS settings or IRQ addresses
Mac users don't have to worry about so many Microsoft bugs
PC usrs don't have to worry about Microsoft going bankrupt

Both systems still have some USB troubles
Both systems don't do so well with Linux or Unix ports
Both systems will never be totally stable as long as each new version is sold for money.

multitrack recording

You could download Logic audio FUN which is free and good although quite limited compared to even Logic Audio AV. I would recommend trying it all the same although it will only give you four tracks of audio. I think there is an upgrade path to other Logic versions. Logic is an Emagic company which is owned by Apple Computers.

Digidesign make a software and hardward combination recording solution traditionally for Pro studios. They did a cut down audio interface for the consumer music market and bundled it with ProTools LE software. They then release a cross platform freebie called ProTools Free. Type ProTools Free Demo into Google.com and it will find the download for you..
