I'm looking for a program that will recognize guitar chords from an audio cd. If anyone knows of a similar program, please post a reply telling me how to get it. Thanks.

Yamaha MX100II catalog

[The body of this post has been reconstituted from replies so it may differ from what was originally written.]

I'm searching for a catalog of Midi files, that can be played on the Yamaha MX100II piano, or are there free midi-files that can be played on the piano. The piano is located in Ghent, in Belgium, Europe, but answers from all over the world are welcome

Freeware for music editing

[The body of this post has been reconstituted from replies so it may differ from what was originally written.]

I just got a Korg M1 and have a Win '95 PC with MIDI sound card. I want to be able to play on the Korg, download to the PC, store and/or edit in normal musical notation, then play back onto the Korg. Any suggestions as to which freeware I should start playing with.

Cubasis VST audio won't run on a Macintosh

[The body of this post has been reconstituted from replies so it may differ from what was originally written.]

Can anyone tell me why my Performa 6320CD won't run Cubasis VST audio (it works fine with midi files)? Each time I load Cubasis I get two messages. The first says "Couldn't Create Native Audio Engine". I click "OK" and then that is followed by another message: "There is no translator available for this audio information". I don't know what a "Native Audio Engine" is but I am able to open the audio files that came with Cubasis using Simple Sound, I just cannot open them from within Cubasis and therefore I am unable to access the audio editing features of Cubasis. Steinberg's tech support says it's something wrong with the Performa architecture but they can't seem to tell me specifically what the difficulty is. They actually told me my Performa is "not a Power Macintosh". That's wrong! It is a PowerMac -- at least that's what Apple says. Does anyone have any insight into this problem?

Re: copying cdG's ( karaoke )candy faicild..

You might also try Disc Juggler from Padus(Web Site www.padus.com). They will even download you a 1X version to try out before you buy. The software works beautifully along with my Plextor 8432 CD Writer, I can copy CD+Gs with no problem.

Can you tell me exactly what to buy and what to do when I get it. I have started a Karaoke business. I do not have the bucks for the cdgs at retail. I hope I can download my cdgs from the internet. I take it you have learned how to do this? Could you enlighten me? Sincerely, Ter

Re: copying cdG's ( karaoke )

There have been many inquiries here, Most of these can be answered with a trip to MTU.com. They have programs to remove center channel vocals, copy CD+G, Etc... I also know of the one mentioned, CDRWin, and then there is nero burning rom 4.7 which was mentioned as well. You need a reader and writer that both understand the CDG format.

Here are the CDR's that understand CDG
CREATIVE CDR4210
*HEWLETT PACKARD 7500 / 7570 / 8100 / 8110 / 8200 / 8210 PANASONIC CW-7501
*PLASMON CDR4240
PLEXTOR PX-R412C (must have firmware version 1.07 or higher)
PLEXTOR PX-R820T / PX-W4220T / PX-W8220T
SONY CRX100E / CRX110E / CRX120E
YAMAHA All Models (6416S model has not been tested yet)

* = Records CD+G at 1x speed only and is not capable of reading CD+G

And the CD Roms that understand it..
PLEXTOR 4Plex Plus (must be the *Plus* model)
PLEXTOR 8Plex
PLEXTOR 12Plex
PLEXTOR 12/20Plex
PLEXTOR 14/32Plex
SONY 76S (not recommended)
SONY 415 (only works well at 1x reading speed)

Enjoy

Re: copying cdG's ( karaoke )- all the facts

MTU is focused on providing your Karaoke CD+G needs. We are the worlds leading Karaoke software developer.

Of the CD-Recorders from ALL the companies who claim to support the CD+G format, that out of 5 drives we test, we will reject between 1 and all 5 because they fail to properly read or write the CDG format. Thus, the drives we sell are CERTIFIED to read/write CDG.

We offer software to duplicate, make custom cdg song assemblies from multiple discs, vocal eliminate (center-panned only), key change with pro-audio quality, produce karaoke cdg songs for home use, and produce karaoke cdg songs for commercial licensing and distribution.

Visit http://www.mtu.com/ to find the tools to do what you want to do with Karaoke CD+G.

Remember, if a product or salesperson doesn't say "cdg" or "cd+g", you will get audio only.

Re: copying cdG's ( karaoke )

it is possible to record cd+g discs, remember you are only allowed to back up you OWN disc's remember I do not endorse bootlegging, but those who have integrity, here you go, First of all you cd rom should be scsi and the ablilty to read cd+g, like the plextor, the you need to find a recorder like a yamaha (has to burn cdg) to burn the cdg disc, this should also be scsi, to create you must have cdrwin software you can purchase that @www.goldenhawk.com, its cheaper to back up your old ones then to buy another

Re: copying cdG's ( karaoke )

I have a Plextor 8432 cd writer, which handles the CD+G format, but was unable to create CD+Gs until I purchased a software package called Disc Juggler from Padus (Web site is www.padus.com). I can now copy CD+Gs easily with no problems. If your CD writer handles CD+Gs, buy the software, and you will be in business!

Re: copying cdG's ( karaoke )

I have tried that but when you play the disks you can hear the sound but can only see a mess of characters on the screen. It is obviously almost there but not queit........Any thoughts

The program you want is called CDRWin. It's produced by Goldenhawk Technology. It will copy CDGs but you have to meet specific hardware requirements to do it.
