I am looking for a program where i can record a soprano melody by singing and the program can give me the accompanying alto tenor and bass voices.

BEWARE: Harmony assistant is NOT a professional tool, it's full of bugs and the support is practically non-existent. I've plenty of documentation to prove it.

I guess a comment like this one demonstrates how too much drugs, alcohol damage the brain. This comment is insane. Harmony is a real good software, extremely cheap for what it does, with a great community of users (forum) and developers. The Guillon Brothers are paying a lot of attention to feedback and suggestion. Just go to the forum or the democratic workshop and you'll see plenty of documentation to prove it . Not like yours I guess.

You MUST be joking !
I will not argue about your understanding of the word "professional" but I don't think Harmony Assistant is "full of bugs".
I have used it for several years, and I found it really stable. Moreover, I haven't heard of any programming team who are able to address any user's problem so promptly and listen to the user's needs so as to implement whatever function he needs.
Now, what I'd like to get is the "documentation" you have, to prove your assertion. You are welcome to send me any evidence :
First, because I doubt very much you can gather such documentation.
Secondly, because -imagining your are right- the best way to improve things improve is to bring them to the users' (or programmers') attention.

I have very rarely seen a software with as few bugs as Harmony Assistant. I have been using Harmony Assistant for many years, and the software is brilliant, cheap, and the support is excellent. I would appreciate if other software vendors could copy Harmony Assistant quality!

Harmony Assistant has a great many people sharing, composing their own music, like a comunity. The software can be set to do many things. Like enter notes real time from the computer text keyboard, or from a midi keyboard.
Omer is an add on, Scans music sheets on your scanner, puts in notes you can play it in Harmony.

Never seen so many General protection failures!

Just downloaded latest version (7.4.2a) onto my Windows 2000 system,and the product's "About" screen says it all.
So far I've launched the program 42 times and it's failed 19 times!! Failures usually occur when opening files (midi files + some of the mus file samples), but also when trying to use export (WAV). Either the application vanishes without trace, or it comes up with a type C0000005 exception with addresses such as 77FCA8AC, 77FCBFE1, 77FCA778, 77FCA776,... But then when I restart and try exactly the same open/export again it works fine, but then dies on something else later.
I can't believe the product can be this bad, so could it be something wrong with my system - although I have so say that all other software seems to run on it ok!
Anyone else had similar experiences??

I have 7.4.2. (Just got it.) After reading your comment, I tried importing midi files. I had no Problem. Not only did the program print out the notes (for 5 staves), but the sound was --- well, Great!

I had been having trouble with wave and midi files so I went to the installer program (in my system, its Aptiva Installer) and re-installed the wave and midi drivers (in my system log there was duplication of drivers and I deleted one.) Now I have no problems at all. The Harmony program is an tinker's dream -- complicated (for me) but it offers a lifetime of new experiences and discoveries.

I suspect (in years I am ancient but in computer experience I am an infant -- particularly with midi stuff -- so take what I say with caution, courage, and system disk at hand)that you are having sound board problems that require re-loading or refreshing.

I have looked at many programs for over a week and while most are "acceptable," some cost big bucks, and some are very reasonable, this Harmony Assistant will impress anyone. What doesn't it DO?

I am been looking for a notation/midi program for about 5 years. I have tried just about all of the shareware's and some of the
commercial ones.

The commercial ones are too expensive,
and the shareware/commercial ones
to buggy and just plain annoying
(MidiSoft comes to mind).

This one works... the interface is
delightful, and the price is
extraordinary when you realise
it compares favorably with several
commercial programs with regards
to features.

Please note, I have _NO_ connection
whatsoever with these people. I
am just a very pleased customer!

AND... their Music Notation OCR software
WORKs!!! amazing when you consider it
was released as a 1.0er.

Is there any software available that will transpose music say for example if you scanned in some sheet music in the key of C it
could transpose it to the key of Eb. I would be grateful of any advice or information you can offer.

If you scan your music into the computer using a program that reads sheet music like midiscan < http://www.musitek.com/ > the
music on the paper is transformed into a MIDI file, then, any software sequencing progam like " MUSICATOR <
www.musicator.com > wiull transpose it to any key you want
