Software Description
How could the simple task of launching clips from a controller be improved, making it as intuitive, fun and transparent as possible? Griid is the answer to that question.
Griid is an advanced clip grid interface which allows you to control Ableton Live (running on your desktop or laptop) from your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. Using specially developed touch objects and simple gestures, Griid is carefully designed with the performance experience in mind.
Finely tuned for rapid navigation, you can enjoy the freedom of playing Live sets of any size with ease. Explicit visual feedback means that you have all the information you need, quite literally at your fingertips. Combined with wireless operation, this means you can perform with Ableton Live without ever needing to look at the computer screen.
Griid is available in three flavours as described below.
Griid Lite
Griid Lite allows you to try the Griid experience for free to make sure it integrates well with your setup before purchasing.
Griid
Enjoy the same playful and inspiring Griid experience for iPhone and iPod Touch.
Griid Pro
Perform with an advanced clip grid interface utilising the iPad's premium screen size.
Griid is the only controller which gives you all the information you need about your clips, tracks and scenes. Easily see which clips are already playing or cueing and quickly spot the clip you want to launch next. Replicating Live's own clip names and colours, Griid's representation of your Live set will be reassuringly familiar. Even see your set's colour-coded scenes clearly highlighted in Griid alongside their names.
Glance quickly underneath the track names to see the playing position of the currently playing clip, whether it's a loop or one-shot.
One of the truly unique features of the Griid family is Overview. How often do you build a Live set with dozens (hundreds even!) of scenes and then realise it's just too complicated to find your way around and reach reluctantly for the mouse? Overview generates a bird's eye view of your whole Live set, large or small, at the tap of a button. Simply press View, conveniently located in the lower-right corner, and Griid instantly generates a map of your Live set, with every clip reduced to a tiny rectangle. Touch anywhere in the Overview to jump immediately to that part. Clips at different ends of your Live set are suddenly next-door neighbors!
Quickly finding the clip you want to play with is a number one priority. With Griid, you have several fluid methods for navigating your set. When you know the next clip is nearby, you can smoothly scroll with an intuitive drag gesture in the scenes or track headers. When you need to search further away, take advantage of inertia scrolling by dragging your finger and quickly releasing. If you've lost that killer hook and need to get back to it FAST, simply tap on the corresponding track header to deliver that clip right to your fingertips.
