Software Description

dBpowerAMP Music Converter (dMC), is one of those must have utilities, indispensable for converting audio files from one format to another. Part of dMC's formidable arsenal, is it's ability to rip music straight from Audio CDs! [optional install], or LPs. Formally known as Shuffler Music Converter, dMC continues where Shuffler left off.

Straight out of the box dMC can convert [from & to] WAV and MP3 files. Download options bring Windows Media Audio (WMA V7), CD Audio (CDA), Ogg Vorbis and many more file types to the table. Volume Normalization, ID Tag preservation, scriptable and the simplest way of converting (right click on a file and select Convert To), round of a perfect package. What's more dMC is free.

This was so easy and quick to download, and is easy to use. I was getting worried that my mp3 player wasn't going to meet my needs, and then I found this. It's great!

I have the same probelm with my linux system, doesn't appear to be a way to convert these files on a linux platform and can;t get the converttool working in a windows emulator, any other ideas?

.ACT files can only be converted to .WAV format. If you like, you can then convert the .WAV to MP3 easily. The best tool I've found the ACT to WAV conversion, I found at this URL http://www.corporatekey.com/support/MP4N1-support.html

there you will see "SOUND CONVERTER TOOL" (.act to .wav) 1.45Mb download.

Try to "guess" the instruction first http://www.dnsip.ne.jp/~wao/apl-cd/data/003.html (I cannot read Japanese either, but one should be able to understand 99% of it)

I found this link on another fourm - it's a device probably quite similar to the one you speak of - it puts out ACT files as well. There's a link at the bottom of the page, but here's the direct:

Someone said that the program is in another language, but there's only two buttons - one lets you pick the file, the other starts conversion. Shouldn't be too hard.
