Software Description

The Yamaha S-YXG50 Synth is no longer available to download

Optimised code allows the softsynth to run at 44.1KHz 16bit resolution with full effects processing on MMX PCs, or standard PCs with cpu speeds in excess of 166MHz.

The software offers 676 fully programmable voices, 21 fully programmable drum kits (GM/TG300B & full XG), and a staggering 3 parallel 24 bit resolution effects busses.

S-YXG50 Operating Environment

Please Note: Due to the anomaly in the Cyrix 686 range of processors with regards to their floating point maths co-processor, some functions of the S-YXG50 will be disabled.

Main Specifications of the S-YXG50:

  • Voice Data: AWM2 custom technology
  • Wavetable Data Size: 2MB (using highly-optimised compression technology)
  • Multi-Timbrality: 16 parts
  • Polyphony: 128 notes max (can be scaled by the user)
  • Voice Set: 676 melody voices (fully programmable) + 42 SFX voices (fully programmable) + 21 drum kits/SFX kits (fully programmable)
  • Sample Rates: 44.1 / 22.05 / 11.025 kHz
  • Synth Modes: XG / GM / TG300B.

When I installed this and re-booted the PC (Win ME) an error message box about a driver being out of date appeared and them a BSOD appeared. Beware!

Yes, I've done it. I'm using it for MIDI. My midi programs let me chose the yamaha or windows synth.

How to UNINSTALL??

I've deleted this trial version without uninstalling it. now when i want to install XG100 from a CD that I just bought, it says that i must uninstall the software synthesizer first. i've deleted all possible files and registery information. what else should i do? thank you.

go find all files that begin with sxg and delete them. Restart your computer and install the new version. Hope this helps. These files (sxg) should all be in C:\windows\system32. Use the find or search function on your computer.

This is a bit late but for all those with
the same problem here's the answer which is
of course the best midi program there is
namely Midi-Ox which comes
with a variety of mappings to do things like
transpose, split the keyboard etc. Just go to
options -> patch mapping and load up the
required mapping. For chords, try Bome's
Mouse Keyboard which can transform
single notes into a variety of chords.
You'll also need a virtual midi port
driver such as Hubi's Loopback to patch
these together. Hope this helps someone.

Hello, i found very interesting stuff in your site, and i wonder if you could help me with some advice. I'm an art student, guitar player and electronic music entusiast, but with few experience on audio software. I'm using fruitty loops for sampling my own sounds from imported waw files, but i need an application that allow me to play each sound file from a different key on the keyboard instead of using the mouse. As if they were the keys of a synthesizer keyboard. Is there anything for doing such things or I need a real keyboard with midi connected to my PC to achieve this?
in any case, i just need a few number of sound-assigned keys, let's say 10 or could be more or less than this. Is it possible to do that with the Yamaha S-yxg50 or what kind of (affordable, if there isn’t any free download) software do i need for this?

Besides, i would like to activate an auto pitch bender (way up) whenever a single key is repeatedly played in a frequency shorter than 1 second. But i don't know if that is possible.

I really apreciate any help you could give me.

hello :-) i had that same trouble then i looked in the files inside the cd and it didnt match to what was actualy on the mother bord so it wouldnt read it,,way to find out is to look in it and see if the driver called sis530 in it,,the first cd i got wouldnt run but when checked it had sis620 in the vga file when it should have had sis530. i whent back to the place i got the pc and got another cd,,it had the sis530 in the vga file and ran with no trouble. might be something to check out becouse the first cd was in the s-yxg50 holder but wasnt it. easy way to find out look into the vga file then get new cd where you got pc.

I had the same problem with my system disk for my pc100. What I did was burned another disk from my system disk and it worked great. Also my original will run in my cd burner but not my reg cd player. Hope this helps you. Good luck
