Don't want it.
I downloaded the wingroove and used up the trial version, so I deleted the program. Now when I go to any of my music programs, a message comes up asking me to register and pay 20$. I don't want the program so how do I get the message to stop coming?
Re: Don't want it, Maybe??
Select the file types you want *.wav ,*.Midi to play through.....Configure your media player to play Wav or midi should be under settings or pregerences.....if i am wrong....than i suggest you simply re-install the program and and Not "check" the boxes that ask u "Which file type do u want wingroove to be the default player for?"
if not work than Right click a wav file....hopefully it says "Open With" in the menu ..click it and seek for your media player in which you want to run wav / midi files under ...and remember to "check" the box IN THE SAME SCREEN that says "Always use this program for this file type" (something to that affect)...if that not work rename your media files extension name to something different (jargon three letters) EG: Song01.wav will now be renamed Song01.bbb ...it will say that this file may become unusable (make sure to make a back up copy of the file) select continue or OK ...Now double click on the renamed file...it will come up with a sub-menu asking you to open this file with "which program" --same as before open it with your default media player that supports wav / midi and check the box saying "always use this program for this file" (something to that affect.

Wingroove Stinks
I am having a really big problem with my wingroove and I am helpless here. I am unable to play any of the hundreds of midi's that I have since I downloaded this. I downloaded the shareware version and when I did for some reason it "took over" all of my midi's and I keep getting that dang message saying that it is freeware and I cannot play my music. Now I have no problem registering it so that I can play the music but after reading the posts of others about the problems with registering I simply want to delete the whole thing out. I removed it from my computer, or so I thought but when I goto access my midi's I keep getting the same message. Is there anyone that can help me here? I am desperate and from what I can tell contacting the creater/owner does no good so maybe one of you fine people can help. PLEASE!!!!!

Re: Wingroove Stinks
Listen or actuallly read ^_^
Go to your Start menu and select RUN
type in c:\windows\winfile.exe
then use the old windows manager to find any midi on your comp then click it and then go to FILE then click associate
then scroll down to and other player you might have that can play midi's
also go to CONTROL PANEL and then click MULTIMEDIA
then click midi and make sure its not set to the wingroove driver set it to your other midi driver
Also I've never had any problems with wingroove
I registered mine and have been using it for over a year now its very nice if you are interested let me know if you still don't want to get it then I either recommend an SOund Blaster live which sounds almost like Wingroove or get a yamaha synthesizer driver offline.
Everyone PLEASE READ!!!!
I think WinGroove is dead. I emailed the author and I got no response. Anyway, with the software starting to kill over I was wondering if someone else could get intouch with Mr. Nakayama and ask him to release the source code. I gotta have it! Just think a skinable WinGroove.
Problem with wingroove
Hi all,
I recently got wingroove, and I installed it as the main midi driver on my windows 98 comp. It works and sounds GREAT for just general purpose midi, but when I try to play certain games, specifically Graal, I get errors. (If you havn't heard of it Graal is a freeware user-made game to be found at graalonline.com)
With Always Activate turned off, I get the wav output in graal, but every time the midi tries to activate I get some error message telling me that the device is already in use.
With Alwyas Active turned on, the game bypasses wav competely and just plays midi. Well, this is okay, but I want my sfx, too! I tried playing around and toggling the in-game settings for sound, to no avail. I also went and changed my midi driver back to my default one, and the game works fine--with crappy midi (pardon my word).
So, I know the problem must be wingroove, but all my documentation on it shows no answer. Do you think that maybe graal just doesn't understand wingroove or what? But, isn't the whole purpose of wingroove to catch midi as it comes out and convert it over to the wav "port" or whatever? So in my understandin this shouldn't happen.
Oh, one other tidbit: With Always activate on, while playing midi from a player all my windows 98 sounds work fine. Then when I go to a game like Age of Empires, I get no sound and NO midi.
What do you think? I'm sorry I ran on so long, and thanks for your time!
Chris
Re: Problem with wingroove
well isnt it a major duh that you cant play midi with wingroove, and have your sfx together. wingroove uses wav, and therefore, you couldnt use them together or it will crap out and give you no sound at all, that may just be in my case, but oh well
...
WinGroove is a HUGE improvement to the sound on my old
DX33. ( It's surprizing that it works. )
Wingroove for the internet
Does anyone know if this can replace the 'cresendo' player on the internet. If so, what would be the 'html code' used and do you have to upload the player. Your answer is really appreciated.
Rick
Re: Wingroove for the internet
in my case, crescendo plays the midis using the wingroove emulated sound, isnt that good enough for you?
Adding new sounds to WinGroove
Does anybody know how to use personal sounds, like you can with AWE32/64???
Re: Adding new sounds to WinGroove
: Does anybody know how to use personal sounds, like you can with AWE32/64???
I don't think it's possible. All the sounds are saved in a file with the TPD extension. Or something like that.

WinGroove Answers
Ok here are some quick questions and answers for those who dont like wingroove.
1. Having slowdowns when using it? I have a pentium 233 MMX and it works fine, although I sometimes get like a 60% CPU load. You really need a fast one to use this.
2. YES you CAN play games with WinGroove. I have optimally configured it to work with Final Fantasy 7. Just make sure that the Wave Output is at 100.
3. If you are still getting "register" messages, check that the driver is disabled also.
Comment from me: personally I think WinGroove is the greatest thing that has happened to MIDI. I had no idea it was so finicky, I guess I was lucky. I am a software programmer (www.thevortex.com for more info) and I am seriously thinking about doing a WinGroove like program thats more compatible with Windows.

Re: Wingroove X RealOrche
Using a software wavetable programs such as Wingroove and Roland Virtual Sound Canvas will definitely slow down the system. It is because that the softsynth is taking up much of the system's resources. I suggest that if you want an optimum performance of Real orche, you should obtain a Sound Card that supports DLS(Downloadable Sounds). There are many sound cards out there in the market that supports it ex: ESS Sound Card Series. Also, you should also do some tweaking on Real Orche itself (I replaced some DLL files of V1.42 with V1.43 and that solved the problem with smooth lyric scrolling. For more details just contact me and i'll be happy to help you.

Re: Wingroove X RealOrche
Hi Fernando,
I've had a similar problem with RealOrche in a friend's computer, but I had installed a Yamaha driver, not Wingroove. Anyway, I guess that you may solve your problem disabling the score functions of RealOrche, this way you don't use so much of your processor. It worked in that situation, maybe works now.

Game music
WinGroove still doesn't work on my windows based games with midi
music! Sometimes I DO get the wingroove music, but no Sfx
and the game moves slow as hell!
Is this supposed to work?
Can someone explain how to do it?
Patch editing
I heard that you can edit the instrument patches in Wingroove?
Is this true?? If so, how the hell is it done?
Does it work like module instruments?
Can I assign my own wav file to a certain instrument like on
MODS or Awe64????
i am getting pissed off
i keep getting a messege box on my screen about every 5 sec saying"trial period was already done. it stops everything i deleted wg from my system, but it still pops up
Re: i am getting pissed off (FIX)
Re-install wingroove.
Under settings, make sure there are no checks under misc.
If so the remove them.
reboot computer then delete wingroove subdirectory.
WinGroove
The sound improvment is indeed great. The only problem I have is that the file I downloaded from thier own website keeps telling me that it was expired and keeps interupting execution.

Wingroove problem
Hi,
I use MOTU's Freestyle sequencer and
out of curiousity downloaded and installed
Wingroove (which is a great improvement).
The wingroove install seemed to muck up my
sequencer and no matter what I change my
midi driver to, the sequencer does not
find a midi port. I've removed Wingroove
and reinstalled Freestyle and that did not
fix the problem.
Right now I'm shaking my
fist at Wingroove!!!!!!

You could try deleting two files...Under your c:
drive in the Freestyle folder/delete FS Config.Fms
then in windows...under freemidi folder/delete FMS
Prefs...Then try restarting your freestyle program.
Good Luck
