Help for scriptig in linux

Dear sir,

I want to know about how to write scripting for sound hearing in number format and more for governement sectors offices like banks and industrial developments. i'm using SOX but unble to write a program . kindy help me to write a shell scritp for sound sencing unit. I'm new to this shell scripting using linux 7.3

for an optiplex gx270 with a 2.4 GHz processor.

When I ran
/usr/sbin/sndconfig
I got the message
A PCI sound card was found in your system. The details are:
Model: Intel Corp. 182801eb AC'97 Audio
is not supported.

I also tried to run
/sbin/modprobe i810_audio
which did not work.

What driver do I need and where can I get it.

The reason the card cannot operate under windows 2k or xp is that the HAL in those operating systems will not permit direct control of the hardware which is necessary to switch between sound card modes. I am not sure of the archeteture of linux so I can't say whether or not it will work under linux or not. The last discussion I read is people were trying to get information from the manufaturer on the chip programing so they could write a linux driver but were not having much success.
