Software Description

SharpEye Music Reader converts a scanned image of printed music into a MIDI or NIFF file. It does not support direct scanning but will accept BMP and TIFF files.

Used at its simplest, you drag an image file into a window, click on a button and wait for the conversion to take place. The output is shown in conventional music notation in another window. Click on another button to save the result as a MIDI or NIFF file.

Usually there will be some errors in the output: SharpEye has a built in editor for correcting them. Almost all the editing can be done with the mouse and delete key. The input image window automatically scrolls to the right place in the image as you edit. SharpEye also shows warnings for each bar which doesn't make musical sense. This acts a bit like a spellchecker and directs your attention to likely errors.

sharpeye is a slow but very good and cheap scan soft. i´d like to import niff files into finale.

4th etiude by Villa Lobos in alwful scan was recognized somehow. Idea is great, and accuracy is also not too bad.

So far, Sharpeye outperforms Smartscore and Photoscore lite as far as accuracy is concerned.
A very good start. The output file, in my opinion, should be readable by the most widely used sequencing programs, as Cubase Cakewalk or Logic.

I have many many old Shaped Note pieces that need to be up dated and made more readable but the time involved with doing it by hand (I mean, of course, with a software program)is prohibitive. The fonts for Shaped Notes ( 4 shapes - Fa, Sol, La & Mi)are available with several of the programs, will this program accept them to recognize (OCR) these fonts? John Redman

when i try to download music reader, the egg timer flashes as does the IE bar at the bottom with the message - 'done'. Not normal EH?
