Software Description
PolderbitS Sound Recorder and Editor is designed to digitize sound recordings of music cassette tapes, vinyl LPs, or videos so they can be recorded onto CD. All you need is a multimedia Windows PC with a CD burner and CD burning software, and with PolderbitS audio processing software you can transfer vinyl records to cd. Move all of your old recordings onto your PC by converting them into digital sound files.
The PolderbitS Sound Recorder and Editor can also be used for additional sound recording and editing tasks like recording for example streaming Internet audio, meetings and interviews, editing sound files created with other software, or converting WAV sound files to MP3 and vice versa.
New in v5.0 build 93
- The possibility to Select/Deselect All, or to invert the selection of tracks in the the Save Tracks window of the Editor.
- The Editor now remembers the last save-as-type and sound quality for existing recordings you opened for editing.
- An ID3V1 mp3-tag is now included in mp3 files when saving multiple tracks, using the given Track and Album name.
- Hitting the spacebar to restart recording did not work after a recording was discarded.
- To avoid feed-back, the Recorder does not touch speaker volume or muting anymore when the Microphone sound source is selected (to avoid possible feed-back).
- If the once selected sound mixer to record from is no longer available, the Recorder now tells you about it instead of silently selecting whatever sound mixer is still present.
- In case you reduce the Windows desktop size, both the Recorder and Editor windows now make sure to remain visible.
- The Wave view in the Editor would sometimes show red-colored garbage if the "Show removed clicks in red" option was ticked in the Click filter before the Advanced section was closed.
- When defining a new Cut-Start point in the Editor, the Cut-End point is now always set a bit ahead initially.
- When playback stops at the end of a track in the Editor, clicking on Play again now commences at the start of next track instead of first silently crossing the space in between the tracks.
- On the day of switching to or from Daylight Savings Time, the duration set in the Recording Timer now doesn't jump off by one hour anymore.
- The Recorder now warns if Skype is running, and opts to close it to stop it from interfering with sound source selections.
- Setup now places the Recorder and Editor desktop shortcut icons on the desktop of all user accounts that are used in Windows.
- Setup now creates the Program Menu entries on Windows 98 correctly.

5. What format will the captured music be in? MP3, WAV, other?

Great piece of kit
I downloaded this program last night and have copied about 6 old albums on cassette to digital with no problems at all. It's a skoosh to use and does a great job very easily.

I'm sorry, but who died and made you Newspeak Police, Rob/David? "A great piece of kit" is a perfectly acceptable accolade for this elegant little program, as is "a great little tool".

I don't see anything wrong with using the phrase "great piece of kit". I think it's quite groovy and often fits perfectly into the described condition.

I agree with the sentiments of one Mr Rob Kirk. I also find the said phrase offensive. I would like to add that in no way should a user ever refer to software as "a great tool". This is in a similar vein and should also be outlawed.

Good stuff
Use the PolderbitS recorder and editor now for a few weeks and it works great. It is VERY easy to use and the automatic track splitter makes sure I have a neat set of tracks of my tapes when I burn them on CD. My tapes were getting kinda old so they are now save on CD. Highly recommended!

Such a nice program, simple to use, good helpfile too. I am getting all my golden oldies from cassette tape to CD.

sound recorder problem windows 2000
can not record using windows sound recorder or any other aplications such as cool pro edit..yahoo messenger msn messenger voice chat..error message...audio being used by another aplication....dont know what and how to fix ...can anyone help

I have the exact same problem. It has to be windoes 200 specific because I can boot up in windows ME on the same machine and everything works fine. I am using a toshiba and both operating systems use the same driver. Thats why I think its the windows 2000 OS that is the problem and not just a simple driver or hardware problem

audio and sound recorder
hi, well i am in a chat room on a script, and people have sent me waves and someof them i can hear and some of them i can't, other people can hear them in the room except me, i have been told i need to update my sound recorder or audio so i can hear the waves, and i am not sure how i do that, and if it is the right thing to do, thank you hope you can help kathleen

I can't run my audio player from the accesories menu. The popup says I am missing my CTL3D.DLL file. I did not have this problem until Macafee antivirus froze my system when loading the antivirus program. Should I be able to add this file from another pc or should I have to reinstall Windows 98?

I'm having a different kind of problem. I try to run a "cartoon" program but for some reason I can't use it. I un-installed the program but when I try to re-install the program I get the message that the CTL3D file is already in use and I can't figure out why.
I look at the programs currently running and I can't find one.

Go to driverguide.com and sign up and then you can get that file.

I had the same problem recently after having to re-format my hard drive. I copied the file from a PC at work. After copying to floppy, you won't see the file on the floppy using Windows Explorer - but it'll show up using DOS. I copied it from and into the Windows\System directory - and it now works great !!!!

Burning LP's on CD's
I have a Inspiron 8000 (Dell) and I having a hard time determining what additional components I need in order to complete the above process. I have the software. Do I need an attachment for my lab top? Please advise. Thanks

works better than expected
Converting old LP's works great. With "cut section" feature I can even cut out clicks without fear of ruining since you can undo what you don't like. Great tool for small price!!
polderbits recorder/editor
LOVED IT!!!!!! Recorded several audio speeches that were more than 30-90 min. in length, and was able to condense all to fit ONE cd. Now have to go and purchase software, ran out of time(wished it was at least 30 day trial like others).
