NLog MIDI Synth from Tempo Rubato is a virtual analogue Synth for the iPod Touch and iPhone. It is now supporting Core MIDI, WIST and interfaces from Alesis, Akai, IK Multimedia, Line6 and others.

This app provides external access from MIDI keyboards or other MIDI controller - see the video below.

This is a real synthesizer running on your iOS device which you can play with your keyboards. A MIDI interface is needed to operate with external keyboards. This version supports Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer and Akai's SynthStation.

On iPads CoreMIDI USB is supported with Camera Connection Kit. The app is also usable without MIDI interface with on-screen keyboard.

It comes with a wide range of high quality preset sounds, and you can also create your own sounds with more than 100 parameters and options available to you. You can store up to 96 of your own edits in 3 user banks.
