Software Description
60 graded activities cover basic music theory and ear training skills for students of all ages in their first two years of training. Specific skills include:
- Reading notes in the treble and bass clefs
- Matching manuscript notes with keys on a piano
- Aural recognition of melodies and rhythms
- Aural recognition of scales, modes and common intervals
- Recognition of note names and their durations
- Review of common Italian terms and music symbols
- Common chords and inversions on manuscript or keyboard
- Aural recognition of major and minor and tonality
Many activities use digitised sound to reinforce pitch and rhythm concepts, no MIDI keyboard is required. The computer responds with the correct answer after an error. Students learn as they play in a positive and non-threatening way.
The class teacher can cater for a large range of abilities simultaneously. Beginners can review note names while advanced students study their aural intervals. Students can get individual help in new concepts from the teacher while others are working at a level appropriate to them. With so many activities available there is always extension work available for advanced students.
