Software Description

Multiquence is a multitrack digital audio processor from the same author who created GoldWave.

It features an incredibly fast and easy to use interface. All editing is performed instantly, which means you can drag-and-drop, trim, copy, and split files without any processing time! Several realtime effects, such as volume envelopes, flange, speed, and equalizers, can be applied to each file. Supports .wav, .voc, .aif and .au digital audio files.

Multiquence's unique design and virtual editing features completely eliminate the need to copy and paste audio to the clipboard. The Copy command simply adds another copy of the section to the track, where it can be dragged to a new position. Audio is played directly from the original file. No temporary files are needed, saving valuable time and storage space.

Depending on the speed of your hard disk, realtime playback from 2 (low end system) to 8 (high end system) 44.1kHz, 16-bit, stereo tracks is possible. The File | Save as wave command allows an unlimited number of tracks to be mixed. To reduce swapping overhead, virtual memory should be configured to a fixed amount (minimum and maximum set to 20MB, for example).

assignable multitrack recording

Hello I have a 12 channel usb enabled mixing board and my lap top.I have audacity but I dont think you can assign channels to track- only stereo and then layer track after track.Is there any freeware that has assignable tracks (so I can record scratch tracks at the same time as drums for instance)Please let me know -thank you Joe Salmon Jackson NJ

I've been using this program to record and mix my music and have found it to be very powerful and easy to use. I have a slow PC 166mhz and I could only get other programs to stutter and spit (n-track especially) but this programs allows me to record at least 6-8 tracks without any lag time. Bravo! 9/10

I use this software with my Roland VS-880 and it works well. The Roland does not allow for multitrack output so I record a single channel at a time, sync them and put the channels in as tracks into MultiQuence to mix and create a single WAV file. So far I have mastered three CD's with this method and, although time consuming, it works very well.

Strange Bug

Overall, the program worked well for very short
recordings. For longer recordings, the data seems
to get out of sync, so that data recorded on one
track is a noticable fraction of a second delayed
during a portion of the recording. The amount of
delay was not consistant throughout the length of
the track, so I was unable to compensate by simply
inserting a delay into the beginning of the tracks.

This makes the program useless for longer recordings.

Tested on a Micron PII/350 running Windows 98.

Turns out the problem was due to the sound card
that is built onto my motherboard. I got a
creative sound card and used it with no problems.

Other multitrack software also had problems with
the on-board sound card. Cheaper sound cards are
apparently not suitable for this sort of thing.
I had problems with other (cheap) sound cards
on different systems while I was trying to find
one that worked.
