Software Description
Lector from Waldorf is a AU/VST plug-in vocoder.
The Lector is a tool for producers using Mac OSX to manipulate vocal sounds. The Lector's analysis filter bank can split the audio signal into up to 100 frequency bands, allowing for a multitude of possibilities. From Robotic futuristic sounds to ancient low voices to what ever the production calls for.
Lector also has an integrated 16-voice synthesizer for fun things like applying a melody line for vocal articulation. Users can also export from external source for the synthesis filter bank.
The Lector plug-in sports an ergonomic user interface. It has some special features and unorthodox parameters that let users tweak minute details. It also includes the fabled Waldorf multimode filter, which has a slope of 12dB or 24dB. There is also a whitening filter that "whitens" or "bleaches" the signal before the vocoder applies its coloration, this comes in handy for Choir applications. It also has a basic three-band equalizer for boosting and cutting preferred frequencies of the resulting sound.
Lector provides a more in depth and detailed vocal manipulation for Mac OSX users.
