What does POWER mean?
In the lit of softwares there is a classification by POWER. Cubase 6 seems to have 100 db POWER. Ehat does that means?
I know I found your website a time ago and then there were daws that had even 115 db power. So I don't know what that means I guess is the signal/noise, but I couldn't find anywhere else these specifications for daws.
I used to think pro tools have 115 db or 120 because that is what I remember I have seen on this website few time ago. But know I see the maximum is 100 db. Please make me understand!
And what does it refers to? recording? rendering? what?
Thank you very much!
Power ratings explained
The Power rating for all the software listed on Hitsquad refers to it's popularity.
It's calculated by combining information about the number of times it's downloaded, number of new reviews and comments it receives, and some other measures of popularity.
Although it's a good guide to the quality of the software, it actually signifies how popular it is rather than how good it is at a particular task, or its signal to noise ratio or any other specifications.
There is no upper limit on the power rating software listed here can get, although the higher it goes the harder it becomes for it to get any higher - it's based on a logarithmic scale similar to Decibels which is why we use 'db'.
As I write this, Cubase is currently the most popular DAW on Hitsquad, although there are other programs like Auto-Tune which have a higher rating. Of course you could come back tomorrow and it might be that Pro Tools is more popular - we update the ratings in near real-time.
I hope this helps.
That's cool!! Thanks a lot!

That's what Steinberg told us
We got that information from Steinberg and thought it was correct - thanks for letting everyone know.
