Crystal uses a lot of memory and cpu. It contains four 10 second delay effects, so between that, the GUI graphics, and everything else, it requires about 20Mb of memory. G4 min.

Crystal is a semi-modular software synthesizer featuring both subtractive synthesis and frequency modulation (FM) synthesis. It offers abundant modulation control with over 90 parameters which may be modulated, multi-stage envelopes with graphical editors, extensive tempo sync of envelopes/lforates/delay times, built-in effects for chorus/flanging/comb filtering/echoes, and a band splitter for effects processing by frequency band. Not only that, Crystal has wave sequencing, granular synthesis, program morphing, MIDI learn, and imports soundfonts. The musical applications for Crystal are literally boundless.
Crystal is a plugin, which means it runs within a host, such as Cubase, Orion, Logic, Fruity Loops, etc.

- 20 Megabyte sample ROM: You can now download 20 Mb of multisampled instruments for Crystal, thus making Crystal a full-featured rompler. Available at authors website.

I love this software! It is very impressive for a freeware synth. I recommend it for anyone interested in increasing their sound library with classic as well as unique sounds.
The modeling architecture is pretty sweet, but i've only just begun learning how to customize it. Fortunately there are a number of wicked sounds in the presets, all of which can be modified. One other cool feature is the option to merge synths or characteristics of synths.
