Software Description

Audioactive Player is a simple and to-the-point tool for listening to live streaming audio encoded with Audioactive (or Shockwave) software, including MP3 files. The Audioactive Player melds happily with all the common World Wide Web browsing software.

There are some programs to run MP3 on DOS or Windows 3.1, however if you want to use a 386sx, you have to download a math coprocessor emulator. All the packages I know require a Chip with a FPU included.
After doing that, you will probably spend 15 or 30 minutes waiting for the processor to calculate the sound.

: i found the same problem. software loaded and played the demo just fine. but when i loaded a legitimate mp3 file i experienced the same "no play" with "copyrighted file" notice

I think you'll need a decoder card on the PC to take the workload off the processor (specially on a 386)
