Tone2 Audiosoftware has a new effect plugin for the Mac OS X - the AkustiX Enhancer.

AkustiX Enhancer offers various enhancement effects that will help with the music mixing and mastering process. Based on psycho-acoustic research, each effect offers a multitude of ways to manage your recordings by using psycho-acoustic technology to shape and enhance your sound.

The Akustic Enhancer has six mixing effects:

Ultra Stereo
Allows for adding transparency and enhances perceived spaciousness and distance
in a mix, it can also be used to convert from mono to stereo.

Psycho EQ:
Gives dynamic boosts and equalizes frequencies based on the nonlinearity of the human ear.

Stereo Width:
Uses exclusive technology that provide independent frequency control over the stereo width & spatial image, with up to 3 frequency bands.

Multi Exciter
Created to enhance the presence, brightness, it claims to add vibrancy and depth by adding harmonics.

Phase Enhance
It masks non linearities and gives out a more natural dispersion and propagation of the sound.

Smart Filter
By using frequency-domain masking, this parameter enhances transparency and adds detail.

Other features include spectrum analyzer, virtual surround processing, and phase meter for better imaging and can be used to restore or revitalize old recordings.

A Windows version of the Akustix Enhancer is also available.
