It can! There are plenty of djs using it now to mix mp3s. You need to do the BPM/rate calculations yourself, though. But once you know the rate difference, just change the rate of the sound. You can do fades, pans and rate changes over the course of each sound. There are plans to include automated beat matching in the not too distant future.

Before I register I need to know if I can record sound through the line-in jack of my sound card onto a seperate track while listening to a track that's already in there, without having the original track showing up on the newly recorded one.

It will depend on your soundcard. If you have a "full-duplex" soundcard, you should be able to. To see if you can do this, go to the "Recording" tab on the Preferences dialog and click the "Test" button.

It most likely will tell you that it can record and playback in the same sampling rate. That means if your playback rate is set to 22Khz, you must set the recording rate to 22Khz, etc.

Make sure that the "Synch playback" checkbox is checked and you should be set!

*-Sampling rate is how quickly the computer "samples" the audio. Higher sampling rates means you will capture higher frequencies. This is why 44Khz is called "CD Quality".

It can. It can also pan from left to right speaker, as well as playback rate changes. Each sound has fade points which you can move around. You can also add as many of these points as you want. If the cursor looks like a pencil, it means you can add a fade point. If it looks like a cross-hair or up&down arrow, it means you can move the fade point under the mouse. I hope this helps!

I love your program; however before registering, I am trying to resolve a problem -- I record original WAV file on creative blaster wave editor. I then bring file (ref) into internet audio mix. Problem is that when I play it within audio mix program, sound is muffled and slightly distorted. When I play same WAV file in any other wav-playing program it is fine. Any ideas???

The sound is being converted to a different Wave format. IMIX defaults to 22Khz, 16 bits, stereo. Choose the option in the "Preferences" dialog to set the overall playback format to the "Best In Mix. Then make sure to record everything at the same sample rate to minimize distortion. Normally, you won't hear that much distortion, but on some sounds it will be apparent. A future version of IMIX will handle the anti-aliasing and filtering neccessary for this on-the-fly format conversion. Sorry for the late response!

Hello Joseph,

I have a few questions about the audio mixer
and some of my own can you send me your
answers to asitk@yahoo.com ?

Does this tool mix audio streams in Real time i.e
can it mix streams from a couple of 3rd party
Windows Apps that are playing and produce a
single mixed stream. ?

Is this a DirectSound based tool ?

I am working on a similar problem. Basically i
need to mix at least 2 streams from 3-rd party
Window apps. Now i guess if the apps support
DirectSound this problem can be resolved by
writing a DirectSound filter and using the
DirectSound filter API's to do the mixing. Is this
correct ?

Also how to do audio mixing for older non-directsound aware apps. i.e
16 bit Win 3.1 and older win32 apps. ?

Basically i generally do OS & Networking stuff
so i am a bit out of my depth here :-) ..
I will appreciate any help you can give me
in this regard ..
