Native Instruments expands their DJ System line with the new Traktor Kontrol S5, a portable 4-channel DJ system with hi-resolution display.

This new all-in-one DJ system is said to be designed for fluid hands-on control of their popular DJ software Traktor. It is the latest iteration of the Kontrol S series with touch sensitive controls, full color displays and new "Stems" open format multi-channel mixing, all of which aim to provide smooth workflow that's conducive to creativity.

The new Traktor Kontrol S5 carries over the best features of its predecessor, while adding in the latest available technology. Most notable of which is its innovative touch-sensitive knobs and multi-purpose touch strips which trigger a host of views, panels and functions that you can then see through the high-resolution displays. The company designed and formatted the interface in such away that it allows for quick visual queues, to encourage more interaction between the DJ and the crowd - instead of focusing on gear.

The ability to use Stem files expand the versatility and expandability of the deck, joining the expanding family of Stems-ready Traktor hardware which makes setting up multiple gear more convenient and cohesive. Stems is described as a new way to DJ, "an open, multi-channel audio file that contains a track split into four musical elements – bass, drums, vocals, and melody, for example. With each element available independently, you can mix in ways that just weren’t possible until now."

With Stems, you can do on-the-fly edits, mash-ups, a cappella, and many more. And it also lets you make precise adjustments to your effects, for example you can apply reverb on your vocals while leaving the track unaffected.

Native Instruments equipped this new DJ system with a professional on-board audio interface. This integrated audio interface is capable of handling 24-bit/48kHz resolution, and features both RCA and XLR master outputs. Other features include 1/4" booth output, and an independent stand-alone RCA or 1/4" Aux channel input for connecting a mic, MP3 player or other line-level media players and instruments.
