This new organ joins the company of Electro 4 HP and Electro 4D SW61 to complete Nord's Electro 4 family of organ keyboards.

It has 73 Semi-Weighted keys that have rounded "waterfall" tips, ideal for rapid organ licks and works just as well for piano playing. It has a key range of F-F.

Keeping in line with Nord's sound quality, the Electro 4 SW73 comes with the same B3 tone wheel simulation as the one in their flagship organ, the Nord C2D. This together with its improved memory (380 MB memory for Nord Piano Library sounds and 128 MB memory for Nord Sample Library sounds) give it improved sound, response and overall performance.

Aside from the sound engine upgrade, Nord improved the key click and percussion model of this new organ, offering improved control over the levels when playing near-legato. They also redesigned the Rotary Speaker simulation based on a vintage 122 unit and they improved on the vibrato and chorus scanners.

The built-in organ models are designed to emulate the unique response of the original instruments in detail. The Farfisa Compact Deluxe, considered by many to be the mother of transistor organs, involves routing matrices and complex filter combinations that offer a tailored sound with massive energy and high-end. The Vox Continental's brute on the other hand brings you a more hollow tone, but with a intense character.

Both these transistor organs retain their signature sounds, you can tweak them to taste by setting them up with any of the Amp simulations, and by applying some EQ and/or distortion. Further tone shaping is provided by its digital LED drawbars.

Like the rest of the Nord Electro 4 organs, the SW73 comes with a library of specialized piano sounds, including Grand, Upright, Electric Piano, Clavinet and Harpsichords. If these are not enough, you can download additional libraries from Nord for free via using their sound manager software.

The effects section of this new organ features Pan, Auto-Wah, Tremolo, Phaser, Chorus, Flanger, Stereo Delay with Tap-Tempo, 3-band EQ and Reverb. It also comes with various amps and a compressor effect. Rounding off its new features is its USB MIDI connectivity.

The Electro 4 SW73 is currently priced at $2,399 and is expected to ship to the US in January 2013. You can head over to Nord Keyboards for further information.
