Moogfest 2014
Moog Music partners with Paxahau to co-produce Moogfest 2014 at Asheville, North Carolina, on April 23 to 27, 2014.
This year's event will continue the annual festivities that celebrate the innovative spirit of the brand's founder, Dr. Bob Moog.
Detroit based Paxahau has 15 years of experience as a production and promotions organization. They are known for producing events such as the Movement Electronic Music Festival and Detroit Jazzfest. This year, they assist in "re-tooling" the 9-year strong annual festival, which now features a new logo that is said to better reflect the brand's legacy.
Mike Adams, President of Moog Music, has announced his commitment to keep the festival in Asheville, however he wanted to see some changes. He says, "We set out to find a new partner with a real understanding of the dynamic history of electronic music, and that has a deep appreciation for the impact Bob Moog's inventions have had on musical expression and creation. After working with them for three years on their festival in Detroit, we knew Paxahau was the right choice to help us take Moogfest 2014 in the direction we envision."
Paxahau President Jason Huvaere had this to say about the team up, "We are excited to be a part of Moogfest and its tradition of honoring the legacy of Bob Moog. We’ve developed a great relationship with our friends at Moog Music over the years and look forward to working with everyone in the Asheville community as we progress towards Moogfest 2014."
This year's Moogfest is special because it was recently announced that Bob Moog is to be inducted into The Inventors Hall of Fame in May. Moog Senior Brand Manager Emmy Parker comments, "It's amazing to have Bob's achievements recognized on a wider scale. Moogfest is a way for us to invite a larger community to celebrate him and others like him, that push creative expression forward."
Inline with the upcoming festival, Moog released a teaser image of their upcoming "kit" synthesizer, the Moog Werkstatt. Fans note that it may have something to do with the Moogfest "Engineer VIP Package" and "Legacy VIP Package" tickets, which feature two 3-hour synthesizer building sessions with Moog engineers. According to the festival website, these VIP tickets will give fans the opportunity to build, modify and take home their Moog synth creations.
