Improve Your Lyrics With Liptikl
Songwriting isn't always easy, sometimes you can get stuck trying to find the best lyrical ideas, and that's where the app Liptikl comes in.
Liptikl is an app that runs on iOS, OS X and Windows which helps you generate new ideas for lyrics.
The app automates and extends an old idea generating method known as the "cut-up technique" which has been used for many years by songwriters such as David Bowie and Radiohead's Thom Yorke.
Basically you would write individual words or phrases on separate pieces of paper then select pieces at random to generate lyrics or ideas for lyrics.
Liptikl makes this process a lot easier by letting you enter up to 5 word sources then combine those with a custom word library to generate unique sentences and phrases. You can continue iterating the process while locking down words you want to keep until you arrive at something you really like.
It lets you set how many lines on text you want, how many words per line, and even whether or not you want the last word of each line to rhyme.
Intermorphic recently released a new version of Liptikl (which was originally released in 2007) for iOS and Mac OS X (hopefully a new Windows version will be coming soon) with this announcement from company founders Tim Cole & Peter Cole, "Liptikl 2 seems to come up with some really cool and stimulating word associations and is a blast to use. We hope you enjoy it and look forward to seeing what you can do with it!".
This is only a brief overview of what you can do with Liptikl, so if you'd like to know more check out the Intermorphic website.
Intermorphic also have a couple of other noteworthy composing tools you might like to check out: Noatikl - a generative music composer, and Mixtikl which is a generative music and loop mixer.
