How To Sell Your Own App Or Music On iTunes

iTunes provides a great deal of convenience to musicians and music lovers. Because iTunes is a popular place for users to download music and apps, it’s a good idea to get your music or your app on this platform if you want to make a name for your band or even generate some revenue. But how do you get your own music or app on iTunes?

MUSIC

Join the iTunes Partner Program.

If you want to start selling your music on iTunes, you need to join their Partner Program. In order to sell music, you will need to fill out this specific application. You will need to choose what type of content you will be selling, determine if you’re already set up to sell music online. If you are, your application process will be shorter and much more simple than if you’re not already set up to sell music.

Have the right requirements.

In order to sell music on iTunes, you will need to make sure you have the following requirements. For example, you will need to have a Mac computer that runs OS X 10.5.8 or later, 512 MB RAM, QuickTime 7.0.3 or later, 20GB of hard drive, broadband Internet connection and an Apple-approved encoding house. You will also need to have at least 20 albums in your catalog and ISRCs for tracks, as well as a US Tax ID number and a valid iTunes account. If you don’t meet all of these requirements, you can still sell your music using an Apple-approved aggregator.

Continue to fill out the application.

You will need to continue to fill out the necessary information required on the application. Once your application is complete, you can send it in to Apple for approval. It’s important to note that just because you meet all of the requirements, Apple does not have to approve you to sell your music.

APPS

Join the iTunes Apple Developer Program.

If you are interested in selling your apps on iTunes, you will also need to join the Apple Developer Program. This program will provide you with support, resources and innovative software in order to develop and sell your app.

There are two separate types of Apple Developer Programs that you can join. You can join the iOS Developer Program, which will provide you with the right skills and processes in order to create and sell iOS apps through the Apple store. This program will cost $99 a year to join.

You can also join the Mac Developer Program, which will provide you with resources and support in order to create and sell Mac apps through the Mac App Store. Like the iOS Developer Program, the Mac program will also cost you $99 a year to join.

Once you join a program, you can start to accurately design your app, test it out so that all bugs and kinks have been resolved and finally distribute your app through the Mac or Apple Store in order to reach a wide audience.
