Bitwig Studio Now Available
Music production software Bitwig Studio is finally released with demo versions available for three major operating systems - Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
This new Digital Audio Workstation software has generated quite the buzz with its distinct workflow, which is tweaked for today's electronic/laptop producers, DJs and musicians. Now you can finally see and try Bitwig Studio for yourself via the demo version downloads.
Some are drawing a comparison between this new software and Ableton Live, because they both target producers who also perform live. It's not just the target market that's comparable, some of the people behind Bitwig Studio were formerly employed by Ableton - which could explain some of the similarities.
Bitwig Studio's cross platform design allows it to work with Windows, Mac OS X and Linux - three of the most used operating systems today, giving the brand a chance to reach more potential customers. Now that the software is finally released, more details about its features are made available. Most notable of which is its customizable workflow and user interface, allowing for simultaneous music production and live performance.
The designers also dealt with the all too familiar and annoying plug-in crashes by designing a "sandboxing" feature that will not allow crashing plug-ins to interrupt your production and more importantly your live performance. This means that plug-ins will no longer be taking down your entire project or your inspiration as easily as with other DAWs.
Another nifty feature of Bitwig is the Unified Modulation System, it lets you link any device parameter including VST plug-ins and nested internal devices without losing hands-on control. You can also use it to create unique relationships between sounds for quick and organic multi-effects.
For improved controller integration, the Open Controller API is accessible to both the end user and third party manufacturers. You can use it to edit your controller mapping while third party manufacturers can use it for improved preset/automatic mapping.
Built into Bitwig Studio are important DAW features that include 32 and 64 bit VST support, multitrack recording, layered editing, dynamic object inspector and many more. Live performance features include bounce/slice and advanced controller support.
Other notable features include:
- Time-stretching technology
- Multi-display support for up to 3 monitors
- Unlimited tracks
- Note and audio expressions
- Automatic sample slicing
The company is quoted saying, "The Bitwig Team would like to take this special moment to thank you. Your excitement and encouragement brought us to a great milestone today. Bitwig Studio 1.0 is an extraordinary product of hard work over the past few years, dedicated to offering a new solution to musicians everywhere, and a promise of great things to come.
