NAMM 2012: Nektar Panorama P4: A dedicated Controller Keyboard for Propellerhead Reason
UPDATE: The launch and competition went off successfully at NAMM and the price has been decided - the MSRP will be $599.99 with an expected street price of $499.99. It's expected to be in stores around the world in March 2012.
Nektar Technology, who hail from California, launched a new controller keyboard for Reason called the Nektar Panorama P4 at NAMM 2012, and they're held a competition to give away the first one to roll off the production line.
The controller keyboard space is crowed with many options, but Nektar Technology believe the will have the edge when it comes to dedicated controllers for Reason, because the Panorama P4 uses a custom designed communication protocol to give you direct access to every one of Reason 6's controls.
It also doubles as a regular MIDI keyboard controller, just switch to MIDI Out mode and you'll have instant control of MIDI hardware.
Notable features of the Panorama P4 are:
- Mixer Control - direct control of the mixer section (which used to be in Record) including EQ, dynamics and compression on every channel.
- Channel Strip Control - breaks down the channel strip into manageable localized sections.
- Master - controls all of the Master Mix channel in Reason including the 8 FX sends, compressor, master inserts, and FX returns.
- Motorized Fader - a high quality, touch-sensitive, 10cm motorized fader.
You can enter the competition (no country restrictions) at nektartech.com where you will have to answer a range of questions about the Panorama P4.
One of the questions is about the price - Nektar say they haven't decided on this yet and won't be announcing it before NAMM 2012 - but the price will be somewhere between $299 and $699.
Entries are open until NAMM 2012 starts on the 18th of January, and if no one gets all the answers right then the winner will be chosen at random from all the entries.
The Nektar Panorama P4 will make its debut at the NAMM Show 2012 in Anaheim, January 18th – 21st 2012 at booth #4912.
