Apple updates GarageBand for iOS to version 1.1 and is now a universal app featuring compatibility with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

Before this update, only people that use iPads are enjoying the smaller mobile version of Apple's popular GarageBand software.

Thanks to the recent update, GarageBand v1.1 is now a universal iOS app, which means you can now easily install and use GarageBand to your smaller iOS devices - the iPhone and iPod Touch. You can now utilize the same great music production features on smaller iOS devices.

You can manually create your music with the built in multi-touch screen instruments, or for beginners you can use the smart instrument feature to allow GarageBand to generate music that fits your song idea. It might prove to be a bit more challenging doing it on small screens but with the new GarageBand update, you can record, mix and edit your songs as you prefer. With GarageBand version 1.1 on your iPhone or iPod Touch, you have a complete music production software literally in your pocket.

iPhone and iPod Touch users can also benefit from GarageBand's easy share features, you can easily send your music to a friend for collaboration, or you can instantly upload your song to iTunes for playing. You can further enhance and edit the song by exporting it to your Mac and opening it on your GarageBand for OSX which is fully compatible.

Other features of the new GarageBand 1.1 update includes:

• Custom chords supported by Smart Instruments
• You can now use 3/4 and 6/8 time signatures
• Reset song key without transposing original recordings
• Transpose songs in semitones or full octaves
• New quantization options for recordings including, straight, triplet and swing
• Variable velocity settings for Touch Instruments
• Arpeggiator available in Smart Keyboard
• New audio export quality settings for AAC and AIFF (Uncompressed)
• Other enhancements, including automatic fade out and better audio import options and compatibility

This is great news for musicians and music enthusiasts that are on the go, just pull your iPod Touch or iPhone from your pocket and start making, recording and editing your music.
