First Crowd Sourced Synth? - the Tyrell
Update: A VSTi plugin version is now available.
Something interesting happened when the German electronic music site www.amazona.de started a reader poll to find out what a "Dream Synth" should be like.
They collected so many high quality suggestions that they actually ended up with a full synth design that was totally crowd-sourced!
The survey was conducted over a one year period and has resulted in a design that really does deserve the title "dream synthesizer".
The Tyrell's features include:
- 8 voices / true analog
- 2 oscillators
- Oscillator sync, FM, ring modulation and pulseb modulation
- Wave-forms sinus, saw and two different noise waves (morphing from sinus to saw)
- Multimode filter and band-pass filters
- Arpeggiator
- Two ADSR envelopes
- Three LFOs
- Midi, midi-clock for ARP and CV/gate in/out
Along with these beautiful computer generated pictures, they have completed detailed layout and technical plans. Now they're looking for a manufacturing to put it into production and make it truly the world's first crowd-sourced synth.
