Hi everyone, was just browsing and came across this article, hopefully you guys can give me a bit of advice..
I am currently on the look out for a budget audio production system for my sister. At the moment I have sourced a midi cable, Kristal software and a midi compatible electric piano (which she already had). Do any of you guys know if I require any further hardware?
Im also basically looking for advice on whether the following systems have gopod enough spec to allow her to do this:
The Samsung x11 and Samsung R40 (both laptops). A laptop is the preferred option due to space issues, but if this is the totally wrong option then let me know. All would be upgraded to 2gb of Ram, but its the sound card issue Im most worried about as Im assuming the on board sound will not be asio supportive (cant find the spec on the website)...
Bearing in mind she is just a beginner (17 years old), would the on board sound card be enough to allow her to produce her own songs via the electric piano to a decent standard? If not, are there any value external soundcards which I could look to purchase?
Any advice would be great, as I know little about all this stuff (so far), I am trying to learn in between working but Christmas is coming soon and I just dont seem to have the time to research enough! Plus the fact tat its quite complex stuff - especially to someone who isn't familiar with the playing / technical terms of musical instruments/production.
Help for beginner setup
